Helton In Position For Eventual Induction Into The Baseball Hall of Fame.

Todd Helton became only the 20th player to fall short in Hall of Fame voting by 11 or fewer votes.

That was a disappointment.

But there is reason for optimisim.

Only one of the previous 19 failed to eventually be inducted in Cooperstown.

Curt Schilling was so upset that he was not elected that he asked to be withdrawn from the Hall of Fame voting in what would have been his final year of eligibility. While his named remained on the ballot, he came up far short in his final year of eligibility — being listed only only 58.6 percenet of the ballots cast.
