Rockies Get Unexpected Night Off In Chicago; Rain Forces Day-Night DH Wednesday

As if the three-city road trip the Rockies embarked on Monday isn’t a big enough pain in the neck, the second game of the the Rockies three-game visit to Wrigley Field was postponed because of rain on Tuesday. That means the Rockies get to play a split doubleheader against the Cubs on Wednesday.

The Cubs aren’t going to take a financial hit, however. They scheduled to seven-inning games, and with the blessing of the Commissioner’s office, despite the abbreviated games, the Cubs will require a separate ticket for each games.

First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled at 12:20 p.m. MT, with Game 2 set for 4:30 p.m.

Right-hander Germán Márquez, who was slated to start for Colorado on Tuesday, will draw the afternoon start. Austin Gomber will take the mound for the Rockies in Game 2 to close out the series. The Cubs will counter with Zach Davies in Game 1, and Justin Steele in Game 2.

The three-game trip to Chicago is the start of a three-city trip that resumes in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Friday, and then has the Rockies back in the air, flying to Texas for a three-game series against the Rangers.
