Rockies 5-Run Rally Not Enough To Avoid 15th Loss In 19 Games

The Colorado Rockies found themselves in a 7-1 hole after seven innings of Wednesday’s game against Philadelphia. They were not, however about to give up.

They managed to put together a five-run eighth-inning rally, but couldn’t add that final two runs necessary to rally for the victory in the bottom of the ninth.

“We got a lot of guys cutting their teeth,” said manager Bud Black. “They are seeing (Toronto’s) Jose Berrios (Sunday). Philadelphia’s (Aaron) Nolan (Tuesday) and tonight, Christopher Sanchez. This is experience first against against quality pitchers.”

And so the Rockies saw their record fall to 4-15, the worst start in franchise history.

They get a chance to catch their breath on Thursday, and will host Seattle for a three-game visit to Coors Field beginning on Friday.
