ROCKIES (

ASTROS (62-47) at YANKEES (56-52)

● Since 2017, the Astros are 18-16 in regular-season games versus the Yankees (5-2 in 2022) and 12-5 in postseason games against them (4-3 in 2017 ALCS, 4-2 in 2019 ALCS, 4-0 in 2022 ALCS).

● Houston’s 20-10 (.667) record since June 28 is the best in the majors over that span. The Astros were in third place in the AL West, six games behind the division-leading Rangers, when that 30-game stretch began. The Astros are now one-half game behind Texas.

● Chas McCormick hit two home runs and drove in all three runs for the Astros in their 3-2 win yesterday. He’s hitting .373 (22-for-59) with seven homers and 20 RBIs in 17 games since the All-Star break. McCormick leads all AL players in RBIs since the All-Star Game and he is tied with Shohei Ohtani and Triston Casas for the most homers in the AL since the break.

● Cristian Javier is 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA over his last eight starts, the longest winless streak by an Astros pitcher within one season since Lance McCullers Jr. had zero wins over his final eight starts in 2017.

● The Yankees have scored three or fewer runs in 27 of their 47 games since June 6. (They’re 5-22 in those 27 games.) That ties them with the Athletics and Pirates for the most such games by any MLB team since that date.

● Clarke Schmidt is 5-0 with a 4.67 ERA over his last five starts, the second highest ERA by a Yankees pitcher over a span of five starts in which he won all five games. Hall of Famer Herb Pennock was 5-0 with a 4.78 ERA in five starts from May 30 through June 26, 1930.

PIRATES (48-59) at BREWERS (58-51)

● The Brewers are 50-23 against the Pirates since 2019, including five wins in six games this season. The only National League teams with more than 50 wins against a single opponent over that span are the Braves over the Marlins (54) and the Dodgers over the Rockies (52).

● The Pirates were 10-4 in their first 14 intradivision games this year but they are 1-11 against NL Central foes since then (0-6 vs. Cubs, 1-5 vs. Brewers).

● Andrew McCutchen has hit 37 home runs (in 164 games) against the Brewers (including one this season). It is McCutchen’s highest total versus any one team and the second most home runs against Milwaukee by an active player, behind Joey Votto’s 43 homers.

● Mitch Keller was 0-4 with a 6.28 ERA in his five games last month. Keller’s four losses in July tied him with Royals rookie Alec Marsh (0-4) for the major-league high. It was also the first time Keller had as many as four losses in one month during his MLB career.

● Since June 24, 30 of the Brewers’ 34 games were decided by three or fewer runs (17 wins, 13 losses). No other MLB team has played more than 26 such games since that date.

● Adrian Houser has allowed more runs in 12.1 innings in his three losses this season (18) than he has allowed over 54.2 innings in his 11 other games this year (17).

MARINERS (56-52) at ANGELS (56-53)

● The Angels are 4-2 against the Mariners this year, winning two of three in Seattle (April 3-5) and two of three in Anaheim (June 9-11). Each team has hit nine homers in those six games.

● Seattle’s MLB-record streak of 13 consecutive games in which their batters struck out at least 10 times came to an end when they had only eight strikeouts in their 6-3 win against the Red Sox on Wednesday. The previous record of 10 straight games with 10 or more batter strikeouts was set by the Twins earlier this season (May 21-31).

● Julio Rodriguez has hit safely in each of his last 11 games (.300, 15-for-50). It is the longest hitting streak of his MLB career and the second longest current hitting streak in the majors (C.J. Cron, 12 games).

● Bryan Woo had zero strikeouts over five innings he pitched in his no-decision start against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Since 2022, the only other time a Mariners player pitched at least five innings in a game and did not record a strikeout is when Marco Gonzales did so in his win over the Blue Jays on July 7, 2022 (6.2 IP).

● The Angels hit three home runs in the first game of their series in Atlanta but none in the final two games. It is only the fourth time the Angels were homerless in two consecutive games this season. Los Angeles and Atlanta are the only MLB teams that have not had a home-run drought of three games or longer this season.

● Shohei Ohtani is 5-0 with a 2.02 ERA in his eight career starts against the Mariners. His five wins versus Seattle are tied for his most against any single opponent. He is 5-4 in 12 starts versus the Athletics.
