Padres Snell, Tigers Skubal Earn Pitcher Of The Month Awards For September/October

Left-handed pitcher Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres was voted the National League Pitcher of the Month for September/October, and left-hander Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers was named the American League Pitcher of the Month for September/October.

Snell earned his fourth career Pitcher of the Month Award and second of the season after last winning in June. He joins Michael Wacha, who won in April, as the Padres winners this season. Snell is the first Padres pitcher to win multiple awards in a single season since Jake Peavy won in May, August, and September of his Cy Young Award-winning 2007 season.

Skubal earned his first career Pitcher of the Month Award, marking the first time a Tigers pitcher has taken the award since Justin Verlander in July of 2016. Skubal is the first left-hander from Detroit to win monthly honors since relief pitcher Willie Hernandez won during his Cy Young campaign in July of 1984.
