Lancaster Faces Elimination in Cal League Title Series

Rockies High-A affiliate Lancaster suffered an 8-5, 11-inning loss to Modesto in Game 2 of the Cal League Championship series, leaving the Jethawks down 2-games-to-none in the best-of-five series. The Series will resume on Friday in Modesto.

Mylz Jones singled home one run and Avery Romero doubled in two more runs  with nobody out in a three-run ninth that allowed Lancaster to force extra innings.  The Jethawks had runners on second and third with no outs in the ninth but couldn’t push home what would have been the winning run.

In the top of the 11th, however, Mag Magliaro walked the first two batters in the 11th and then gave up a three-run home run to Jordan Cowen of Modesto, the Mariners affiliate. Cowen has homered in both of the playoff games after hitting only two home runs durinng the regular season.

Garrett Hampson and Hamlet Marte both homered and singled for Modesto.
