Rockies manager Bud Black opted to go with the left-handed bat of Geraro Parra in rightfield instead of right-handed-hitting Ian Desmond. He also slipped left-handed-hitting Carlos Gonzalez into the No. 3 slot, ahead of Nolan Arenado. Gonzalez led the team in September hitting .366 with six home runs and 16 RBI.

The Rockies included two starting pitchers on their roster for the Wild-Card Game against the D-Backs in Phoenix on Wednesday night. Jon Gray will start the game. Lefty Tyler Anderson is there as insurance in case Gray struggles or if the game extends into extra innings.
