One is the magic number for the Lancaster JetHawks. With a win either Saturday or Sunday over Rancho Cucamonga the JetHawks will clinch the first half title in the California League’s South Division.
The real magic numbers though are the ones being put up by Lancaster shortstop Brendan Rodgers.
So far this season Rodgers is hitting .398 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI. He has tallied 141 total bases and his 82 hits are tied for tops on the team. Rodgers went into Friday nights game with a 23 game hitting streak. After going 0-for-3 though the streak has come to an end. Despite the fact that Rodgers didn’t get a hit he still managed to drive in two runs.
The days may be numbered for the 20-year-old in Lancaster. With the way he’s been playing a promotion to Double-A Hartford may be right around the corner.
