The Indians committed two errors in the ninth inning of their elimination game against the Yankees on Wednesday night, giving them three for the game and a Division Series record nine for the five-game matchup with the Yankees. That’s two more errors than any other team in the Division Series, which was added to the post-season schedule in 1995. The Cubs, earlier in the day, tied what had been the record with seven, and they do have a Game 5 at Washington on Thursday night in which they could catch or pass the Indians.

Indans catcher Roberto Perez had the team’s first error on Wednesday when he was called for catcher’s interference in the second inning. Then, in the ninth, Jay Bruce was charged with an error on Aaron Hicks’ one-out. Then, with two out, Brett Gardner singled home Aaron Hicks, and on Jay Bruce’s throwing error Todd Frazier scored the game’s final run.
