Rockies return from the All-Star Break with a three-game series against the Mets at Citi Field this weekend. Rockies are coming off their first series victory since the Giants visited Coors Field June 15-18. Mets have lost five of their last six games.
Rockies are in third-place in the NL West, 9 1/2 games behind the first-place Dodgers, and two games back of the second-place D-Backs. They are 7 1/2 games ahead of the Cubs and Cardinals in the battle for the second NL wild-card spot.
Rockies won six of seven from the Mets a year ago, but were swept in seven games by the Mets in 2015. Rockies trail 88-98 all-time against the Mets.
Jon Gray (2-0, 3.75) for the Rockies vs. Jacob deGrom (9-3, 3.65) for the Mets. DeGrom has been tough on the Rockies (2-0, 0.95 in four starts). And he has been on a roll in the last month, going 5-0 with a 1.62 ERA his last five starts. Gray suffered a stress fracture in his left foot during spring training, and after trying to pitch through it was placed on the disabled list. In two starts since returning to the active roster Gray is 2-0, allowing two runs in each start.

Tyler Chatwood (6-10, 4.42) for the Rockies vs. Seth Lugo (3-2, 4.59) for the Mets. Chatwood has lost his last three starts, allowing 11 earned runs in 15 2/3 innings. He did win both starts against the Mets last year, allowing one run in seven innings at Citi Field. Lugo is 2-2 with a 5.79 ERA in his last four starts. He has never started against the Rockies.

Jeff Hoffman (5-1, 4.15) for the Rockies vs. Steven Matz (2-2, 3.05) for the Mets. Hoffman will be facing the Mets for the first time in his career. He has had one rough outing this season, allowing nine runs in 3 2/3 innings of his only loss, against Arizona, on June 21. In his other starts he is 5-0 with a 2.81 ERA. Matz is 1-2 with 3.45 ERA his last five starts. His last four starts have come on the road. He made his only career start against the Rockies on July 29 last season, suffering the loss and allowing two runs in six innings.
